Mandate<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n The mandate of an organization delineates the disciplines, fields of specialization, geographic area and chronological period for which an institution will be responsible.<\/p>\n The mandate of the Admiral Digby Library & Historical Society is to oversee the Admiral Digby Museum.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n The Admiral Digby Museum<\/b><\/big><\/p>\n Mission<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n The mission of the Admiral Digby Museum is:<\/p>\n To enrich community knowledge and awareness of the history, heritage and culture of the Town of Digby and Digby County.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n Mandate<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n The mandate of the Admiral Digby Museum is to study, preserve and make available to the public the history of the Town of Digby and Digby County.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n Open to the public from the start of May till end of September annually, with additional special event days.<\/p>\n The Admiral Digby Museum is located in a Georgian-style building, which was constructed in the mid 1800\u2019s. One of the oldest structures in the Town of Digby, (the town was renamed in honour of Rear Admiral Robert Digby, Officer in the Royal Navy, who was in charge of arranging vessels and captains for the distribution of Loyalists from New York in 1783-1784).<\/p>\n Spread over two floors, the museum exhibits period rooms containing furnishings and artifacts relating to the history, heritage and culture of Digby Town and County.<\/p>\n Researching your Digby County Roots? Check out the Archives located on the 2nd floor.<\/p>\n Visit our Tax Free Gift Shop where you\u2019ll find our support in local authors, artists, and photographers.<\/p>\n The building served as the Admiral Digby Library during the 1970s. It was operated by the Admiral Digby Library Association.
